Jim graduated Jackson State University in 1979 earning his B.S. in Psychology. He served as ROTC Battalion Commander and Student Body President at Jackson State University during his senior year. Jim was a dean’s list scholar and earned citations for being a superior military student, superior military cadet and superior military graduate. He completed his ROTC Officer basic training finishing in the top 1% of all cadets in the nation. His outstanding performance during his ROTC Officer Basic Training earned him the coveted General George C. Marshall Award for Inspiring future army leaders to embody the timeless values of selfless service, character, ethics, leadership, and citizenship. Jim earned his MBA from Drury University in Springfield Missouri and graduated with honors. During his military service he served as Foreign Liaison Officer at Fort Ben Harrison Indiana. Jim served as Executive Officer United States Army Reception Station and Training and Doctrine Command Commander at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri. He resigned his commission after obtaining the rank of Captain in 1983 and took a position as sales manager for domestic and international marketing and sales for Corning Inc, in the Scientific Products Division. In 1989 he became a stock broker with McLaughin Piven Vogel Securities Inc, and worked his way to become Vice President and Director with the firm working in the 30 Wall Street Office in New York and managed the regional offices in San Francisco and Atlanta. In 2006 Jim founded Griffith Holding & Financial Services, LLC where he now serves as CEO responsible for the daily operational activities of his firm.
